![]() ![]() ![]() Bad W/R and bad PR means they are probably a poor player. A player with a high W/R and a high PR is probably a good player. Taken together, I think they provide a decent view of a player's ability. Take W/R and PR for example, probably the two most common metrics. I also disagree with using one single metric as the end all be all of the player performance, because a singular stat is easier to be manipulated over the short term, or does not provide a holistic view of a player's true skill. Position A makes 0 sense to me, because if stats didn't show player skill, then everyone would have 50% W/R's, no? I think the fact that there is such an obvious and dramatic difference between player W/R's shows that player skill is a clear and obvious factor in determining outcomes of a match. Either A) Stats show absolutely nothing about player skill, and are useless as a metric for comparing players, or B) some single stat is the single most important thing in the game (PR, W/R, T10 variants of those, or some other stat). Many times in discussions about the viability of stats as a measure of player skill, I see people taking one of two extremes. You imply that stats show player skill by saying you can use them to improve, but then say that stats are useless at measuring a player's skill. ![]() However, just because you don't play the game "competitively" per se, doesn't mean your stats are meaningless. Like you said, there a wide variety of players playing this game, at various skill levels and for various reasons. First off, I entirely agree that just because someone has bad stats, doesn't mean you have the right to insult them about it. ![]()
